  • To become a member of our studio, we ask that all makers are comfortable working independently. This means having completed at least a Level 1 course with us (or ideally Level 2), or an equivalent course elsewhere. You should be familiar with all aspects of clay work, including glazing, cleaning, and reclaiming clay as these are the tasks you’ll be managing on your own once you’re in the studio.

Health and safety are our top priorities. The processes involved in working with clay and glaze require a solid understanding of both the materials and the studio environment. By ensuring all members have prior experience with these techniques, we help minimise any risks associated with the use of equipment, handling of materials, and maintaining a clean, safe workplace.

Our studio technicians are focused on maintaining the space and are not available for instructional support. If you’re looking for more structured guidance, we offer a variety of 6-8 week courses and drop-in taster sessions to help you build your skills and confidence.

We appreciate your understanding of these requirements. If you have any questions or need more information about our memberships, feel free to get in touch with our Head Technician at el@themudhouse.co.uk. We’re happy to help!
