Shipping
Shipping is currently handled via Royal Mail or UPS. Other providers can be arranged upon customer request, which may be more cost-effective for larger orders.
For wholesale orders within a two-hour drive, I may deliver personally, although shipping charges will still apply.
Packaging
Please reuse as much of the packaging as possible. We prioritize using recyclable materials whenever feasible.
Product Use
All functional ware is microwave- and dishwasher-safe; however, because they are handmade, they require more care than mass-produced ceramics.
We recommend washing by hand whenever possible. It’s best to wash pots quickly after use and avoid leaving liquids in them for extended periods. While they can be used in the microwave or dishwasher, hand washing is the optimal care method.
Variations
Each piece from The Mud House is handmade, leading to minor variations in size, shape, and color, which are common in handcrafted products.
While every effort is made to ensure that items in a set match closely, perfect matches cannot be guaranteed with items you may already own.
Images of products may vary based on the quantity available for a specific item. However, pieces listed without quantity options should match the images exactly.
Warranty
The Mud House warrants its products against manufacturing defects. We reserve the right to examine any pieces that may have been damaged due to such defects and to determine if the damage was caused by manufacturing flaws.
While we take every precaution to ensure that our pottery is defect-free upon leaving the shop, we cannot assume liability for damages incurred after sale (except for breakage during shipping – see below).
Breakage During Shipping
Please check your merchandise immediately upon receipt.
If you find any damage, follow the instructions provided with your shipment, which may differ based on the carrier.

Overview
This Code of Conduct sets out the everyday behaviour we expect from everyone who participates in The Mud House community, whether as a member, course student, PAYG maker, or visitor. It works alongside our Community Guidelines and all other studio policies.
The Mud House is a shared creative space. The experience everyone has here depends on the care, respect, and generosity each person brings. We ask everyone to help make this a place where people can create freely and feel genuinely welcome.
In the Studio
• Treat all people — members, students, tutors, technicians, staff, and visitors — with courtesy and respect at all times
• Respect the personal space and concentration of others; be mindful of noise levels
• Care for shared equipment as you would your own
• Leave your workspace, and any shared area you use, cleaner than you found it
• Follow the guidance of technicians and studio staff; their instructions exist to keep everyone safe
• Do not interfere with or move another person's work
• Report any safety concerns, accidents, or equipment issues to a technician promptly
Towards Other People
• Be kind, patient, and inclusive — we are a community of makers at many different levels
• Refrain from unsolicited personal remarks, whether about someone's appearance, identity, or work
• Respect that tutors, technicians, staff and members are here in a professional or creative capacity; personal relationships outside the studio context must never be pursued without clear mutual consent
• Accept boundaries — if someone indicates they do not wish to be contacted, socialise, or have a personal relationship, respect this immediately and completely
• Do not contact tutors, technicians, staff, members via their personal social media, personal phone numbers, or other private channels
Online and Social Media
• Do not photograph or share images of other members, students, or staff without their explicit consent
• Represent The Mud House community positively and honestly in any public forum
• Use the community WhatsApp group respectfully and for studio-related purposes
• Do not seek out or make contact with tutors, technicians, staff or members through their personal social media profiles
Conduct We Will Not Accept
The following will not be tolerated and may result in immediate removal from the studio:
• Any form of bullying, harassment, or intimidation (see Bullying & Harassment Policy)
• Discrimination on the basis of race, gender, age, disability, sexual orientation, religion, or any other protected characteristic
• Physical aggression or threatening behaviour of any kind
• Attending the studio under the influence of alcohol or drugs
• Theft or deliberate damage to studio property or another person's work
• Persistent unwanted contact with a member, student, tutors, technicians & staff after they have made clear they do not welcome it
Consequences of Breaching This Code
Depending on the nature and severity of the breach, consequences may include a verbal or written warning, suspension, or permanent removal from the studio. The Mud House reserves the right to end a membership or course enrolment without full refund where behaviour constitutes a serious breach of this Code.

Statement of Intent
The Mud House is committed to providing a safe working and creative environment for all members, students, staff, freelancers, and visitors. We take our responsibilities under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and related regulations seriously, and we aim to ensure that risks are identified, managed, and communicated clearly.
Responsibility for health and safety at The Mud House rests with Studio Director Ros (ros@themudhouse.co.uk) and Studio Manager El (el@themudhouse.co.uk).
Key Risks and Controls
Silica dust: Clay dust is a serious respiratory hazard. All cleaning must be done using wet methods. Dry sweeping, brushing, or sanding is prohibited inside the studio. Full details are set out in the Members Handbook.
Kiln heat: Kilns reach temperatures up to 1,240°C. Only trained staff operate kilns. Members must not touch, open, or interfere with kilns.
Heat guns: Must be signed out from a technician and used only after a safety induction.
Sharp tools: Knives, loop tools, and needles must be handled with care and never left unattended.
Heavy lifting: Members should ask a technician for assistance when moving heavy buckets. Improper lifting can cause injury.
Wet floors: Clay and water create slipping hazards. Members must mop their area after use and place caution signs when floors are wet.
Electrical safety: Cables must be kept away from water. Faults must be reported to a technician immediately. Do not use damaged equipment.
Glaze materials: Some glaze materials are hazardous in raw form. Members must follow all glaze safety guidelines in the Handbook.
Fire Safety
Fire evacuation plans are displayed at the front door and at the bottom of the stairs. The meeting point is under the viaduct on the opposite side of the road. Full fire safety procedures are set out in the Members Handbook.
First Aid
A first aid kit is available in the studio. In the event of an accident, notify a technician or member of staff immediately. Serious incidents should be reported to emergency services by calling 999.
Reporting
All accidents, near-misses, and safety concerns should be reported to a technician on duty or to hello@themudhouse.co.uk. Incidents are recorded and reviewed to help prevent recurrence.
Member Responsibility
By using The Mud House, all members and students agree to follow the health and safety guidelines set out in this policy and in the Members Handbook, to use equipment only as instructed, and to take reasonable care of their own and others' safety

We occasionally photograph and film studio sessions, finished work, events, and the studio environment for use on our website, social media channels, newsletters, and promotional materials.
We will always ask for your verbal or written consent before publishing any photograph in which you are clearly identifiable. You may decline without any impact on your membership or access to the studio, and you may withdraw consent at any time by contacting hello@themudhouse.co.uk.
Photography by Members and Students

• Group shots at events or social evenings are generally fine, but check with those included before sharing publicly
Sharing on Social Media

Studio communications should remain through studio channels: hello@themudhouse.co.uk or the community WhatsApp group.
Breaches of This Policy
Sharing photographs or content that breaches another person's privacy, or that causes distress to a member or staff member, will be treated as a breach of our community guidelines and may result in removal from the studio.
