Kirunuki Mug Workshop at SPRO Coffee
Join us for a hands-on 2-hour kirunuki workshop led by our talented tutor, Mitsuka Shimazu, in collaboration with Spro Coffee in Hove.
Kirunuki is a beautiful Japanese ceramic carving technique that transforms simple forms into intricate, expressive pieces through careful cutting and revealing.
Workshop Description
In this workshop, you’ll be guided through the process of working with clay and carving your own unique design, with plenty of support along the way. Whether you’re completely new to ceramics or already have some experience, this session offers a creative introduction to the artistry of kirunuki in a relaxed and inspiring setting.
Set within the welcoming atmosphere of Spro Coffee, this collaboration brings together clay, craft, and coffee for a truly special making experience. Come along, slow down, and enjoy a mindful session exploring texture, form, and patter
What’s included:
Two blocks of clay to work with, enough to make a pair of cups.
Full tuition throughout the workshop. All materials & Firing included.
Your pots will be fired to stoneware temperatures.
Finished pieces will be glazed in float glazes.
Pots will be ready for collection from The Mud House studio in 5–6 weeks.
