Course info
Our 6-week course introduces you to both hand-building and the pottery wheel. It’s a great way to try everything before choosing your path. Ages 16+ only.
Small groups: a maximum of 8 students, so you get plenty of one-to-one guidance from our tutors.
Everything’s included: tuition, clay, tools, materials and refreshments (yes, biscuits too!).
Firing is extra: £10 per kilo, covering both the bisque and glaze firings. Your pieces are weighed at collection.
Sessions run for up to 2.5 hours, including 15–20 minutes of clean-up to keep the studio safe and healthy for everyone. If you finish early, you’re welcome to stay and keep working.
Collection: your pieces will be ready 5–6 weeks after your course ends. Drying times vary with the weather.
Course Outline:
Week 1: Introduction to ceramics and basic handbuilding techniques
Week 2: Personal project development
Week 3: Decorating and surface techniques
Week 4: Wheel throwing fundamentals
Week 5: Trimming on the wheel and adding slip & handles
Week 6: Glazing and finishing day
Cost
£250 per person for 6 sessions (inc VAT)
Please note: Pots that are kept & fired will be charged at a rate of 10£ per kilo of work (weighed at pick up)
Work will be glazed and trimmed by our team and ready in 5-6weeks.
