Clay curious & for those who want to have a flavour for both hand-building & throwing on the potters wheel
Fun day out solo or with your loved ones!
Enjoy a fun, hands-on introduction to pottery in this one-day course, perfect for beginners and creatives alike. Learn hand-building and decorating in the morning, followed by wheel throwing basics in the afternoon, with expert guidance throughout.
Course Highlights
Our 1 day course is designed to focus on key ceramic techniques, providing a basic foundation in Throwing and hand building:
With a class limited to just 8 participants, you’ll receive plenty of guidance and support from our experienced staff.
Included in the course are all the materials, tools, clay, and refreshments (including biscuits!)
Sessions are 5 hours long- times vary (some may be shorter depending on progress, but you’re welcome to continue using the space if this occurs. We always finish with at least 20 minutes for cleaning).
Your completed pieces will be ready for collection within 5-6 weeks, depending on the weather!
Course Highlights:
Studio set-up & safety procedures
Introduction to clay, tools, and equipment
Tutor demos including pinch, coil, slab & throwing methods
Hands-on experience with throwing and hand building techniques
Morning Session: Learn the basics of hand-building and decorating techniques to craft your first ceramic piece.
Break: 30-minute refreshment break.
Afternoon Session: Dive into the essentials of wheel throwing — master centering, shaping, and trimming your clay on the potter’s wheel.
