1-Day Pottery Taster Workshop
Enjoy a fun, hands-on introduction to pottery in this one-day course, perfect for beginners and creatives alike. Learn hand-building and decorating in the morning, followed by wheel throwing basics in the afternoon, with expert guidance throughout.


Workshop Description

With a class limited to just 8 participants, you’ll receive plenty of guidance and support from our experienced staff.

Included in the course are all the materials, tools, clay, and refreshments (including biscuits!).

Course Highlights:

  • Studio set-up & safety procedures

  • Introduction to clay, tools, and equipment

  • Hands-on experience with throwing and hand building techniques

  • Session includes 15-20 minutes clean up which is crucial in the pottery world. It ensures students and team members can work in a safe and healthy studio)

  • If you finish earlier than expected you are welcome to continue working and using the space

  • Any pots in addition to the 4 × 500g allowance which are kept will be charged at a rate of 10£ per kilo of work (weighed at pick up)

Your completed pieces will be ready for collection within 5-6 weeks, depending on the weather!

Course Outline

Our 1 day course is designed to focus on key ceramic techniques, providing a basic foundation in Throwing and hand building:

Morning Session: Learn the basics of hand-building and decorating techniques to craft your first ceramic piece.
Break: 30-minute refreshment break.
Afternoon Session:
Dive into the essentials of wheel throwing — master centering, shaping, and trimming your clay on the potter’s wheel.

Sessions are from 10-4pm hours each (some may be shorter depending on progress, but you’re welcome to continue using the space if this occurs. We always finish with at least 20 minutes for cleaning).

Cost

Weekend: £90per person (inc VAT)

4 × 500g pots are included in the price any additional pots that are kept & fired will be charged at a rate of 10£ per kilo of work (weighed at pick up)

Work will be glazed and trimmed by our team and ready in 5-6weeks.
