Bring your team together for a creative adventure at The Mud House! Our engaging pottery workshops are designed to foster collaboration, spark creativity, and, above all, make it fun! Escape the ordinary and treat your team to an inspiring experience where they can learn something new and unwind through the therapeutic process of working with clay.

Workshop prices begin at £40 per person. We are open to accommodating different budgets, so if you represent a charity or non-profit organization, please reach out to us at hello@themudhouse.co.uk.

Our workshops cater to all skill levels, from complete beginners to seasoned potters, and are led by passionate instructors dedicated to the craft. No previous pottery experience is necessary—you’ll be in capable hands! Our goal is to create a welcoming environment that encourages exploration and creativity. You might be surprised at how relaxing it can be to mold and squish clay after a busy day at the office!
Located our studio in Brighton, we also offer the flexibility to bring our workshops to your venue.
Please Note: We can accommodate up to 20 participants in the studio, and unfortunately, the space is not wheelchair accessible.

We kindly request that bookings be made at least 3 weeks in advance.
Cancellation Policy:
- All classes are non-refundable; however, we understand that life can be unpredictable. If you need to change your booking, please provide us with at least 5 days’ notice.
- Available Times for Private Bookings:
  - Monday & Tuesday: 10 AM, 2 PM, or 5 PM
  - Wednesday: 10 AM or 2 PM
  - Friday: From 6 PM
  - Weekends: Available upon request
As you scroll down the page, you'll discover a selection of our popular workshop ideas. However, we take pride in collaborating with various organizations to create completely bespoke experiences tailored to your needs. Please feel free to give us a call or send us an email to discuss how we can bring your unique vision to life!
- Group arrives and gets settled in, everyone is welcome to use our kitchen make and cuppa/ have a biscuit
- 5mins: our tutor will welcome everyone to the space, introduce the life cycle of clay, explain the firing process and health & safety information
- 15mins: Tutor will demonstrate pinch, coiling and slab techniques- demo can be focused on a certain type of form depending on your choice. For example mug making, plant pot, botanical press plates etc
- 1.5hrs: Now it's the groups turn to make! Tutors will be floating around to make sure everyone has guidance they need
- 30mins: for anyone who wants to add colour to their pieces- this is the time!
- 10mins: clean up time & having a look around at all the masterpieces
- Full payment is required at least one month prior to the workshop to ensure timely ordering of materials. This includes a 20% non-refundable deposit.
- Participant numbers can be adjusted up to 5 working days before the event.
- In case of cancellation, only 50% of the total cost will be refunded if notified after the 5-day notice period.
- Please note that no refunds will be issued for participants who do not attend the workshop.
- If, for any reason, we are unable to hold the course, you will receive a full refund.

Plant Press Plates

Join Us for a Creative Botanical Plant Press Plate Workshop!
Discover the beauty of nature and unleash your creativity in our hands-on Botanical Plant Press Plate Workshop. In this engaging 2.5-hour session, you’ll have the opportunity to craft your very own unique ceramic press plate inspired by the flora around us.
Workshop Activities
Demonstration (15-20 minutes)
Our instructor will demonstrate techniques for creating botanical press plates using clay, along with tips for incorporating various plant textures and designs. This demonstration will provide guidance and spark inspiration for your own creations.
Creative Pottery Activity (2 hours)
Participants will dive into the hands-on portion of the workshop, where you will work with clay to create your unique press plates. You can use real leaves and flowers to create intricate imprints, resulting in one-of-a-kind pieces. Once each participant has crafted their plate, we’ll conclude with a sharing session, allowing everyone to showcase their work and share their creative process.
Materials Included
- Pottery clay
- A selection of real botanicals for imprinting
- Tools for shaping and texturing
- Aprons and protective table coverings
After the workshop, the created press plates will need to dry and go through two firings, which can take up to 2-3 weeks. Once fired, we will package and send your beautiful plates to your desired location. Please provide your shipping address so we can calculate the cost for postage and packaging.

Pottery Wheel Workshop
Join Us for an Exciting Pottery Wheel Workshop!
Experience the artistry of pottery in our hands-on Pottery Wheel Workshop, exclusively hosted at our Brighton studio. In this engaging 2.5-hour session, you'll learn the fundamental techniques of throwing clay on the wheel while creating your own unique pottery pieces.
Workshop Activities
Demonstration (15-20 minutes)
Our skilled instructor will start with a live demonstration, showcasing the basics of wheel throwing. You’ll learn essential techniques for centering clay, shaping, and trimming, providing you with the foundation to create your own pieces during the session.
Hands-On Pottery Activity (1.75 hours)
After the demonstration, it’s your turn to get hands-on! With a maximum of 8 participants per session, you’ll receive personalized guidance as you work at your own pottery wheel. Whether you're a complete beginner or looking to refine your skills, our instructor will be there to assist and inspire you as you shape your creations.
Materials Included
- Clay, tools and aprons
- Firing & glazing by our tutors
At the end of the workshop, your pieces will need to go through the drying and firing process, which typically takes 2-3 weeks. Once completed, we’ll package and send your beautifully finished pottery to your preferred address. Please provide your shipping information, and we'll estimate the cost for postage and packaging.

Plant Buddy Workshop

Join us for a creative and hands-on Plant Buddy Workshop, where you'll craft your very own unique hand-built ceramic plant pot in a fun, 2.5-hour session led by Ros from Romud Ceramics.
In this engaging workshop, you’ll learn traditional techniques for forming and decorating your ceramic creations. Each participant will receive 500g of stoneware clay, allowing you to create either two small pots or one large pot.
We provide all the necessary tools, aprons, and materials, so just come dressed in clothes you don’t mind getting a bit messy!
Once the workshop is complete, Ros will take the pots to her studio in Brighton for glazing and firing, transforming your creations into functional vessels. Your beautifully finished pots will be ready for collection in just two weeks.
We encourage a relaxed atmosphere, so feel free to enhance your experience with beverages and catering during the workshop!

Build a mug

Join Us for a Fun and Creative Mug Making Workshop!
Unleash your creativity in our hands-on Mug Making Workshop, where you'll craft your very own unique ceramic mug in a delightful 2.5-hour session led by one of our tutors
In this engaging workshop, you'll explore traditional techniques for shaping, decorating, and personalizing your mug. Each participant will receive 500g of stoneware clay, giving you the flexibility to create one generously sized mug or two smaller ones.
We provide all the necessary tools, aprons, and materials, so just come dressed in clothes you don’t mind getting a little messy!
After the workshop, we will take your mugs to our studio in Brighton for glazing and firing, transforming your creations into beautiful, functional pieces. Your stunning finished mugs will be ready for collection in just two weeks.
We promote a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere, so feel free to bring along beverages and snacks to enhance your creative experience during the workshop!

Workshop Activities
Icebreaker Introduction (15-20 minutes)
We will kick off the workshop with a fun ideation exercise, allowing participants to split into smaller groups. Each group will discuss what their new team represents and their aspirations. Using post-it notes, participants can jot down key words or draw imagery. We will then gather all ideas to serve as inspiration for the collective pottery piece.
Demonstration (15-20 minutes)
Our instructor will provide a demonstration of basic hand-building techniques and decorating methods. This informative session will set the stage for participants to learn and spark their creativity.
Team-Building Pottery Activity (1.75 hours)
Participants will be divided into pairs or small groups to create a collaborative pottery piece.
We will conclude the workshop with a sharing session, where participants can present their creations and discuss their experiences.
Materials Included
- Pottery clay
- Tools for shaping and carving
- Colour slip and brushes
- Aprons and table coverings for protection
After the workshop, the pottery pieces will need to dry and undergo two firings, which can take up to 2-3 weeks. Once completed, we can package and send the items to your offices. Please provide us with the shipping address so we can give you an estimate for postage and packaging costs.
