So you watched Ghost? Then thought I’ve always wanted to try the potters wheel? But didn’t know where to start? Well this course is for you!
This is perfect for beginners or those who want to brush up on their skills!
Workshop Description
The course runs over 6 weeks and includes learning pottery wheel basics - throwing, turning and finally glazing. (16yrs+only)
This is limited to 8 students so lots of guidance :)
This include all tuition, clay, tools, materials & refreshments inc biscuits 😉
Additional firing costs at £16 per kilo of work (includes bisc and glaze firing costs)
Course includes:
Studio set-up & safety
Learn about clay, tools & equipment
Learn basic throwing & turning
Practical fun on the pottery wheel
Learn basic Glazing and firing
Each 2.5hr session includes 15-20 minutes clean up which is crucial in the pottery world. It ensures students and team members can work in a safe and healthy studio)
If you finish earlier than expected you are welcome to continue working and using the space
Any pots that are kept will be charged at a rate of 10£ per kilo of work (weighed at pick up)
Your completed pieces will be ready for collection within 5-6 weeks, depending on the weather!

Course Outline
Our 6-week Wheel Throwing Course is designed to build your skills from the ground up and help you create a variety of functional pottery pieces:
Week 1: Introduction to Wheel Throwing
Learn the basics of centering clay, shaping simple forms, and understanding the wheel’s mechanics.
Week 2: Making Cylinders and Basic Forms
Practice throwing cylinders, cups, and bowls, focusing on symmetry and control.
Week 3: Trimming and Refining
Discover trimming techniques to refine your pieces and create clean, professional edges.
Week 4: Adding Handles and Decorative Elements
Learn how to attach handles, add decorative features, and improve the aesthetics of your work.
Week 5: Developing Complex Shapes
Create more advanced forms, such as lidded containers or stacked vessels, exploring various techniques.
Week 6: Glazing and Finishing
Complete your projects with glazing techniques, learning about colour, texture, and surface finishing.
Sessions are 2.5 hours each (some may be shorter depending on progress, but you’re welcome to continue using the space if this occurs. We always finish with at least 20 minutes for cleaning).

Daytime Course: £240 (6 sessions) Inc VAT
Evening & Weekend Courses: £280per person (6 sessions) Inc VAT
Any pots that are kept & fired will be charged at a rate of 10£ per kilo of work (weighed at pick up)
